Statement of Faith
1. The Scriptures We believe that the absolute and sole authoritative rule for faith and practice is the perfect, preserved word of God. For English-speaking people, this authority is found solely in the AV 1611 King James Bible, which we believe is free from corruption. We affirm that God has kept His promise to preserve His words plural, not just a general message, across all generations. Consequently, we reject all modern English versions, believing they contain doctrinal errors and subtract from the pure words of the Lord. (Psalms 12:6-7)
2. God We believe that there is one triune God who eternally exists in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. While these three are separate persons, they are co-eternal, co-equal in power, and identical in nature and attributes. We reject “oneness” teachings that view God as a single person taking on different roles or modes. Our faith rests in the mystery that these three are one, as clearly stated in the Scriptures. (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Timothy 1:17; 1 John 5:7)
3. Jesus Christ We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God, manifested in human flesh through a miraculous virgin birth. We affirm His deity, His vicarious death for the sins of mankind, and His literal, bodily resurrection and ascension into glory. He is not a lesser god but is co-equal with the Father, having purchased the church with His own blood. We look for His imminent return, resting in the sufficiency of His finished work on the cross. (1 Timothy 3:16; Acts 20:28)
4. The Holy Spirit We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person, co-equal with the Father and the Son, who performs a vital role in the life of the believer. Upon salvation, He enters the believer and is sealed within them until the day of redemption, providing eternal security even when grieved by sin. We acknowledge the gifts of the Spirit but distinguish between those intended for today and those specifically labeled as temporary signs. His work includes convicting the world of sin and empowering the church for witness. (Ephesians 4:30; 1 John 5:7)
5. Creation and Humanity We believe that God created the entire universe in six literal, twenty-four-hour periods as described in Genesis. We reject evolution, theistic evolution, and any “intelligent design” theories that do not attribute the origin of life to the one true God. Humanity was created instantly as male and female, without any long evolutionary process. While we hold to a young-earth creation, we do not label the “gap theory” as heresy, as it seeks to reconcile scriptural sequences with geological observations without compromising the literal six-day restart. (Genesis 1-2; Isaiah 45:18; Mark 10:6)
6. Sin and the Fall We believe that humanity is in a fallen state and that every individual is a sinner in need of divine grace. Sin has brought the penalty of death and eternal separation from God for all who remain in unbelief. We believe that upon physical death, the souls of unbelievers immediately descend into a literal hell to endure eternal, conscious punishment in fire. There is no “soul sleep” or eventual annihilation; the punishment for rejecting God is everlasting. (2 Corinthians 5:8; Luke 16:22-23; Matthew 25:41, 46)
7. Salvation We believe that salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, received through faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Any repentant sinner has the free choice to trust in Christ, and once saved, they are eternally secure and can never lose their salvation. We reject Calvinism’s denial of free will, as well as “Lordship Salvation” and works-based systems that add human effort to the finished work of Christ. While the sinner’s prayer is a helpful scriptural tool for confessing belief, we emphasize that it is faith in Christ, not the act of praying itself, that saves the soul. (Acts 20:21; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Romans 10:9; Ephesians 2:8-9)
8. The Church We believe that the word “church” is used scripturally to describe both the universal body of Christ and local assemblies of saved believers. Every saved person is part of the universal church, but God’s will is for every Christian to join and assemble with a biblically sound local congregation. We believe the local church should remain independent and fundamental, separate from the control of the state. The church is a distinct entity from the nation of Israel and has its own specific mission and destiny. (Ephesians 4:11-14; 1 Timothy 3:1-13; John 18:36)
9. Ordinances (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper) We believe that the Lord has commanded only two ordinances for the church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is the act of immersing a believer in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as a public testimony of faith. The Lord’s Supper is a sacred memorial using unleavened bread and grape juice to “show” the Lord’s death in remembrance of Him. We reject the idea that these elements literally become Christ’s body and blood, viewing them instead as symbolic pictures of His sacrifice. (1 Corinthians 11:20-34; Matthew 3:16, 28:19)
10. The Christian Life and Sanctification We believe that Christians are called to live godly, separate lives that are distinct from the world’s influences. This includes rejecting sinful activities such as drinking, smoking, gambling, and sexual immorality, as well as avoiding worldly contemporary music and inappropriate dress. We believe in “walking in the Spirit” rather than following a legalistic checklist of rules to maintain our standing with God. Every believer is responsible for personal soul-winning through street preaching, visiting homes, and distributing tracts. (1 Corinthians 5:11; Galatians 5:17-21; Romans 16:17)
11. Angels, Satan, and Spiritual Warfare We believe in the existence of a literal devil, Satan, who is the author of sin and the deceiver of the nations. He leads a kingdom of fallen angels and currently empowers lying signs, visions, and false wonders to lead people away from the truth. Believers must be wary of these demonic deceptions, testing all spirits by the word of God. Satan will eventually be bound and ultimately cast into the lake of fire at the end of Christ’s millennial reign. (Mark 13:22; Revelation 2:2)
12. Last Things / Eschatology We believe in the imminent, pre-tribulation rapture of the church, where Christ will catch away all believers before the time of God’s wrath on earth. Following the seven-year Tribulation, Christ will return bodily to establish a literal 1,000-year kingdom on earth centered in Jerusalem. This kingdom is the fulfillment of God’s promises to the literal nation of Israel, which will be nationally restored and saved. We hold to a premillennial view, believing that only the personal return of Jesus Christ can solve the world’s problems. (Luke 21:21-23; 1 Thessalonians 5:9; Romans 11:25-29; Revelation 19:11-16; 20:1-6)
13. Ministerial Distinctives We believe in the necessity of “rightly dividing” the Scriptures through a literal, historical-grammatical approach known as dispensationalism. This method allows us to distinguish between God’s dealings with different groups, such as the Jews and the Church, across successive ages. We further believe that the offices of the church—pastor and deacon—are biblically restricted to men who meet specific qualifications. Finally, we affirm that the “sign gifts” (such as tongues and miraculous healing) have ceased because their purpose was to confirm the word to the Jews before the completion of the Bible. (2 Timothy 2:15; 1 Timothy 3:1-13; 1 Corinthians 1:22)
