The ONE THING the Bible says guarantees eternal life📜 KJV BIBLE STUDY: Romans 10:9
📖 VERSE: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.— FULL ANALYSIS — [The Church] Phrase: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,” Note: This phrase initiates the conditional promise. In the Mid-Acts context, ‘confess with thy mouth’ (public affirmation) is the subsequent evidence of an inward saving faith, not the cause of salvation itself. The object of this confession is Jesus as the Sovereign Lord.
[The Church] Phrase: “and shalt believe in thine heart” Note: Salvation rests entirely upon the inward conviction, the faith of the heart, which Paul emphasizes throughout Romans. This contrasts with external works, rituals, or adherence to the Law (Rom 3:28).
[The Church] Phrase: “that God hath raised him from the dead,” Note: This is the content (the matter) of saving faith for the Body of Christ in the Dispensation of Grace. It is not sufficient merely to believe Christ died (which devils also believe), but specifically that God certified His finished work by raising Him from the dead. The resurrection secures our justification. Supporting Scriptures:
- Romans 4:25: “Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.”
- Romans 10:10: “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
[The Church] Phrase: “thou shalt be saved.” Note: The result of believing the gospel (Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection, 1 Cor 15:3-4) is immediate, eternal justification and security. This salvation is by grace through faith alone, without works.
